The $45 billion analytical and life science systems industry is a dynamic and global business. This data does not reflect the $4B+ from the diagnostics segment.
An important aspect of the industry is the breath of involvement across user industries. Although virtually every industry is served in one way or another, four industry sectors represent almost 50 percent of the overall global user market. These include academia, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and government research. These four sectors are heavily focused on life science-related activities. If contract research organizations, hospital and clinical applications, agriculture/food and government testing are included, life science applications account for about 60 percent of the global user market.
